Cộng đồng Mozilla đã hoạt động một thời gian tại Việt Nam và đang
ngày càng mở rộng về số lượng thành viên cũng như các hoạt động.<br>

<div>Thời gian gần đây, Cộng đồng Mozilla Việt Nam mở rộng các hoạt
động ở mức cao hơn, có máy chủ riêng, mailing list riêng [1] (được
tài trợ bởi Mozilla Foundation), một vài trang thông tin riêng như
blog [2] (sắp tới là website, wiki...) và các kênh, nhóm, trang...
trên các trang mạng xã hội như Facebook, Twitter...; Các nhóm
Mozilla l10n, localization... cũng dẫn được (tái) hình thành và
hoạt động tương đối tích cực; nhiều thành viên đã đăng ký trở
thành Mozillians [3].<br>

<div>Tuy nhiên, vấn đề lớn là nhiều hoạt động còn mang tính tự phát;
có quá ít các contributor có đủ cam kết về mặt công việc, thời
gian... khiến cho hoạt động dù rộng, nhưng chưa đi vào chiều sâu,
hiệu quả chưa thật như mong muốn, thậm chí nhiều việc gây tranh
cãi trong cộng đồng.<br>

<div>Trước tình hình này, một cuộc họp trên IRC đã được tổ chức vào
21h, Chủ nhật 21/10/2012.</div>
<div>Cuộc họp đi đến kết luận: cần phải có một cuộc Bầu cử chính
thức bầu chọn cho một số vị trí quan trọng cần tới những
contributor đủ năng lực, phẩm chất và quan trọng là cam kết mạnh
mẽ về mặt thời gian, công việc đóng góp cho Cộng đồng.<br>

<div>Các vị trí được đưa ra bầu chọn trong đợt này được liêt kê và
mô tả trên wiki [4] <br>

<div>Chúng ta có 1 tuần (từ 0h ngày 4/11 đến 24h ngày 11/11) cho
toàn thể anh chị em tự ứng cử hoặc đề cử tham gia vào các vị trí
này (lưu ý: nếu là đề cử thì cũng cần có sự xác nhận chính thức
của người được đề cử, như vậy mới đảm bảo được tính tự nguyện cũng
như câm kết về mặt thời gian đóng góp).<br>

<div>Mọi thành viên cộng đồng Mozilla tại Việt Nam đều có quyền ứng
cử.<br>

<div>Sau đó, đến giai đoạn chính thức bầu chọn diễn ra trong 5 ngày
(từ 0h ngày 14/11 đến 24h ngày 20/11). <br>

<div>Việc bầu chọn được thực hiện theo hình thức Range voting [5]
(về cơ bản là hình thức cho điểm với mỗi ứng viên, ai được tổng số
điểm cao nhất thì được chọn). <br>
Mọi thành viên cộng đồng Mozilla Việt Nam đều có quyền bầu cử.<br>
